Every spring, I teach a Model Arab League Travel Course and travel with students to the National Model Arab League Conference in Washington, DC.
The students represent a country in the Arab League in the international simulation and get to meet with diplomats and visit their assigned country’s embassy. Student travel is supported by funding from the Middle Eastern Studies Program at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Enrollment in the travel course is competitive and applications are due each fall. Interested students should contact me via email at raglazier@ualr.edu.
In November 2016, I traveled with 15 students to the first Model Arab League Conference at the International University in Rabat, Morocco.
In October 2019, I taught a Model Arab League Morocco Travel Course, which spent 8 days in Morocco, competing in the International Model Arab League Conference and taking a cultural tour of the country. Thanks to the support of the Middle Eastern Studies Program, we plan to return for the conference every other year. We are especially grateful for Larry Rhodes for capturing the great photos of our trip. You can read our course blog at http://ualr.edu/publicaffairs/morocco/.
Upon our return, the students hosted a community event to share what they learned and to raise money for scholarships to help other University of Arkansas at Little Rock students study abroad.
In Summer 2018, I taught a travel course on “Identity, Migration, and a Changing Europe” with Dr. Christopher Williams. We traveled with students to Berlin, Paris, and London.
In both 2022 and 2023, I traveled with students to Spain for a class on Islam and Migration in Modern and Historical Spain. Our class kept a blog that you are find on the blog tab. The 2023 class blog is linked here: https://www.rebeccaglazier.net/adventures-in-spain-2023/.
